I recently had a fault with my M3 Climate Control where it

intermittently went blank. It truned on and off when it pleased and

the display went dim some times. I contacted BMW and the price of a

new one is about u0141170 + vat. OUCH!!

I scoured the breakers yard listings in the yellow pages and found

breakers that dealt with them, but they had none. Their price was u0141100

+ vat... better! Then I found a web page that mentioned the very fault

that I was experiencing. I sent my unit away with u014165 worth of postal

orders and presto two days later it arrived and was Ok !!

I just thought I would share this with you as I know it is a VERY

COMMON FAULT on BMW M3 Climate Controls.

The site is http://www.hype21.com/BMWClimateControl.asp

I hope this helps someone.

If you fairly good with electronics all that needs replacing is a 29p

capacitor. I would recomend that a polyester capacitor be used instead of

the tantalum capacitor mentioned because a tantilum has to be wired the

correct way around. In the UK you can obtain the polyester capacitor from

Maplin part code BX80B (Polyester 0.47uF) cost 29p. Click the link and it

gives a brilliant guid on how to change it. I could of course just place an

advert on the web and rip people off.......
